            Last weekend I hosted a masterclass session for a group of ladies in Bangladesh. A common theme which came about was around their own performance in their lives and how they can be there for members of their families in an inspiringly powerful way which is personal to them. Undoubtedly there are many ways but the four we concentrated on were-
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Questioning, Listening, Empathy
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            and
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Reflection/Thinking.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           So I thought I would share some additional points, observations or maybe challenges to think about?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           How well do we listen? I mean really listen? I recently came across a visual by the Emotional Intelligence Institute, and I was provoked how they positioned the different levels of listening.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           As a Coach, listening is one of the core elements of Coaching, in both listening to what is being said, and what isn’t being said. I’m sure many of us may believe ,or think, yes I listen really well, all of the time. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           But, do we really, or is it a case of we might think we do depending on what might grab our attention? I recognise myself in all of these areas at different times, but what might be the consequence of not listening, or only hearing part of something?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           What situations have we come across where we might not have been listening to the level we should have? Skilful, accurate, empathetic listening is one of the key ways in which a Coach can convert empathy. I have an experience where I finished my first coaching conversation with someone new, and they told me at the end of the conversation “
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           You listened to me in a way, which I don’t think I have experienced”.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           There is a difference between listening to someone and listening with empathy and the impact can be significant. Looking at the visual I have added with this post, where do you see your levels of listening? Have some levels resonated with your experience? How well have you listened in the number of conversations you’ve had today?
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           How could you develop as a listener?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Practising Attention
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            - Is about getting used to being still, silent and outwardly focused. Mindful meditation can helps many individuals do this. But many other practices and activities that require stillness and silence - like fishing - can help too.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Practising Exploration
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            - involves parking assumptions and being curious. Things which come up in the mind can be written down and asked through questions for clarity of understanding. 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Practising Observation
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            - by listening without words. Observe individuals in a public place and take a guess of where their energy is at by the way they move, their expressions and or their dialogue. 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Practising Resonance
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            - Getting used to noticing what you are feeling. You can do that by listening to music, through art, theatre, spiritual verses, sports - anything that hits you first somewhere in your body without your mind getting involved.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

            Being at one with Magnum (the horse) was paramount.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Kinda reminded me of being at one with life force energy, when you let it flow, loosen the grip of holding on and having it your way, only then do your body and mind move in the direction which is most serving for you.
           &#xD;

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Isn’t that just life?

            Sometimes we are so stuck in our own ways of thinking, that we don’t have the space to count the blessings and continue creating and harboring space for fear, shame,  guilt, and pain.  These very things anchor us down, leading to heaviness and it gets too weighty to flow in the direction we really would love to be growing.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Take a moment and reflect on the blessings you experienced today, then do it again tomorrow, and then the day after and watch the load in your heart slowly become lighter and lighter.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

      <title>Wisdom - ‘Look Up &amp; Look Into The Horizon’</title>

            A year ago I had a dream (literally) and as I wrote the dream in the morning into my journal I remember my inner voice making a comment like….’hmmm nah’ almost negating that it could be possible for me.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            In the dream I was riding a horse, he was a white horse and we were galloping through a sea that had parted to create a pathway for us.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            It felt so real and I smiled to myself thinking I wonder what it would actually be like, what would that experience feel like? I had not heard from any family members or close friends that they had done this, so I didn’t have any first-hand information to go on.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            That year in June, I visited a horse riding place and watched from a distance. These beautifully built strong animals. I didn’t commit to riding but just wanted to feel how it would be to be near them. There was a calm, warm, and nurturing associated feeling about them.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            A year later, as I took my physical and mental well-being, high into my daily priorities, I started to walk a lot more in nature. To my surprise on my walks, I saw elegant swans, mischievous squirrels, calm ducks, laid-back rustic cattle, and majestic horses.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            The dream came back to me, and I began to realize that it was a seed planted deep within, that I wanted to experience horse riding. I closed in and explored further and so many signs were showing up, encouraging me to do something which I’d only heard about. I decided I’d leave it to the universe and when the time is right it will come my way.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Lo and behold the month of June (1 year later) was a special month for me and I got to experience this with a beautiful horse named Pi. My trainer Tonya Ellis was amazingly encouraging and she really help me tune in and be at one with Pi.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            As I reflect on the experience I’m grateful for the wisdom and awareness, that this was an act of pure self-love. Sending things out to the universe and having certainty that when the timing is right, things come about your way to experience what you need to experience.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Sometimes as human beings, we have the tendency to want things right away and it can become frustrating when the demand isn’t met. And intern we place these very things on the back burner and then forget about them. But when we learn and can accept, that the time from the moment we want/see something that’s inspiring till the moment we get to actually meet that experience, that in-between time is actually preparing us in the most relevant ways for our experience to be met head-on in the best way for us.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            I certainly used that time, in between, to strengthen my physical body as well as creating the space in my mind to be fully present for something I chose for myself.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

         The Power of Mistakes

         The word "mistake" means you take the shot but you miss. What is good about this? It is that you took the shot and taking the shot will always be BETTER than folding your arms and expecting things to happen.
         &#xD;

          The brain grows a synapse when we make mistakes due to brain plasticity (Jo Boaler, 2016). This is like constructing a road in an area where there is no road. 
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          Learning is maximized when students are taught to cultivate a healthy relationship with their mistakes. Mistakes are not bad, it is your relationship with them that is bad.
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          So, it is okay to make a mistake, this is a natural part of learning. I even congratulate students for making mistakes because I know that neurologically, something new has taken shape.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           By recognising where you are holding onto thoughts and beliefs that do not serve you any longer, and upgrading them to the desired level,  you give yourself the best possibility to raise your own vibration to meet with the next level required of you.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

What I have learnt from Shofna has helped me to not only achieve my goals and set new ones aligned with my values, but also attain a deeper sense of gratitude and appreciation in my challenges.

         I was fortunate enough to go on this journey of self-confidence and self-love with Shofna for 3 months.

         In every session, she was able to help me view life in different perspectives, check in with my energy and help me see how I was valued and how my past has lead me to where I am now.

      <title>Wisdom - Conscious and Unconscious Identity</title>

         Identity of any person is either conscious or unconscious. To have an unconscious identity means you are living from people's expectations, the projected norms and idealisms of family and society. So in essence, you are just repeating patterns that have been established long before you were born and therefore you render your life meaningless by living from an unconscious identity. Hence, we see many people who end up living unfulfilling lives, even though initially they may look happy.
         &#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          Regarding conscious identity. The word "conscious" simply means being awake, aware and alert. This amounts to knowing thyself from deep within, being awake to your thoughts and emotions, connecting spiritually with who it is you are and designing your life in congruence with that. Here, you choose, you design your identity through daily self-awareness, consistently evaluating how the outer world mirrors your inner world of your emotions, beliefs, thoughts and attitudes.
         &#xD;

  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

      <title>Wisdom - Being Strong Is Strong But Sometimes Being Vulnerable Is Stronger</title>

         Some of us have experienced a consistent repetition advise of ‘Be Strong’. Those words have been heard by my ears for as long as I can remember, and I’m pretty sure many of you can relate. 
         &#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          What many of us may or may not know is that once upon a time many individuals learnt to live this way because they didn’t know how to exercise any other way of being. Whether they went through any type of abuse, heartbreak, challenge or pain they could only remain like this ‘rock’ in front of the world and therefore got used to hiding the trauma in their mind, and then they shared the same message with their loved ones, be it their child, sibling, spouse, family, friends and even colleagues. 
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          I would love to invite you to this new dimension called Vulnerability which is not winning or losing, but having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control of the outcome - quote by @BreneBrown
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          By being there with our feelings and showing/sharing them with others creates a avenue to teach how to process through things when we perceive the ‘going gets tough’. It invites the learning and growing wisdom to become even stronger than we have been. 
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          For mother’s, you create the opportunity to teach your child and bond with them-in the most intimate way :-)
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          For partners, you create the opportunity to bring about closeness at a core level creating further growth and understanding.
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          For loved ones your spread inspiration and invite in possibilities which you can learn from, creating further unity. 
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          For colleagues you can open up and create relatability and have further collaboration

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          There are numerous additions this authenticity can bring.

  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          Everyone wants to be loved and appreciated for who they are, and being vulnerable is sometimes stronger than you think.

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
